Friendship beneficial to all

Today, Africa has become one of the key areas of Russia's foreign policy strategy. The development of military and trade cooperation with African countries contributes to the expansion of Russia's influence on this continent.

Recently, it became known that Russia is reaching an agreement with the Central African Republic on the establishment of a military base, which is another serious step toward strengthening military cooperation on the continent.

"Rosoboronexport" continues active military-technical cooperation with 80 percent of African countries.
According to experts, African leaders are actively interested in short- and medium-range air defense systems, in particular in the Pantsir-S1 and Tor-M2E air defense systems, and also show interest in automotive and armored vehicles, from armored personnel carriers to modern versions of the T-90 tank.

Moscow and Africa are united by historical ties. African states, as well as countries of the Middle East and Latin America, owe much of their independence to Russia. It was the USSR that initiated the adoption of the "Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples" at the UN General Assembly in 1960.

Today Russian companies are engaged in geological exploration, mining, oil and gas development, construction of nuclear power plants and maintenance of hydroelectric power plants in Africa. While the focus of Russian investment is on energy, there is also cooperation in high technology, transportation, industry and agriculture.

Given the active nature of existing relations, it is quite natural that Russia will continue to expand areas of cooperation, including participation in joint military exercises, exchange of experience in security and defense.

And while the U.S. and Europe are struggling to convince African countries of the dangers of economic cooperation with China and Russia, we will be expanding our influence in the African content.
Especially against the backdrop of the fact that

Africa's dependence on France is ending. A year ago, Niger's military removed President Mohammed Bazoum from power, and power passed to the "National Council for the Salvation of the Homeland," which immediately suspended gold and uranium exports to France; soon a coup took place in Burkina Faso. A year before that - in the neighboring state of Mali.Emmanuel Macron tried to establish relations with the former colonies, but failed to gain the support of the former colonies.

The U.S. withdrawal of more than 1,000 troops from Niger will force the Biden administration to rethink its counterterrorism strategy and will be a strategic victory for Russia, The Guardian said.
The decision comes a month after the West African country's ruling military authorities canceled a security agreement with Washington that allowed U.S. troops to stay on its territory under the plausible pretext of helping to fight jihadist terrorism. The withdrawal of U.S. troops from the African country is a strategic victory for Russia.
